SUMMARY OF WORK:

As our Environmental Scientist in Water Quality Division, Permits Program; you will conduct inspections and write permits consistent with the Clean Water Act. Duties will include setting up and conducting site inspections, preparing and finalizing inspection reports, compliance follow-up, processing applications, drafting permit and statement of basis, preparing and holding public notices and hearings, responding to comments from citizens and stakeholders, and finalizing permits and statements of basis when necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. DEQ will not provide sponsorships.

To be considered for this position; the applicant must be a DEQ internal applicant which includes current DEQ employees; previous employees eligible for reinstatement; or an individual who has completed an internship with DEQ within the last 2 years.

DEQ is attempting to fill this position at the Environmental Scientist II level but reserves the right to underfill the position as an Environmental Scientist I.

To be considered for an Environmental Scientist II, you must have a bachelor's degree in natural or physical science with emphasis in biology, chemistry, microbiology, environmental science, or closely related field and two years of related experience. DEQ Hiring Range - Environmental Scientist II is $4,971 / month.

To be considered for an Environmental Scientist I, you must have a bachelor's degree in natural or physical science with emphasis in biology, chemistry, microbiology, environmental science, or closely related field. DEQ Hiring Range - Environmental Scientist I is $4,163 / month.
