Essential Functions of Environmental Services Manager :
  • The Environmental Services Manager will oversee and schedule a team responsible for creating a clean and comforting home for residents in long-term care. In addition to directing, training, and leading the team, the Manager will also participate in environmental functions including:
  • Sweeping, mopping, and other floor care including spill clean-up and regular maintenance.
  • Dusting and general pick-up of common areas.
  • Washing windows
  • Trash collection
  • Shampoo and vacuum carpets.
  • Arrange furniture and disinfect surfaces.
  • Launder linens for residents.
  • Prepare bedding.
  • Generally clean furniture, equipment, fixtures, and hardware
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Report to the Administrator regarding the physical and structural conditions of center and the status of work in progress.
  • Perform all assigned tasks in a professional manner to reflect the highest integrity of the Maintenance Department.
  • Monitor departmental staff matters to include interviewing and hiring of new staff, training, evaluating work performance, promotion, counseling, discipline, and termination.
  • Develop, evaluate, and implement: departmental policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and standards of work for the maintenance and repair of medical equipment, buildings and building systems.
  • Participate in the development and application of standards of quality and productivity for the Maintenance Department.
  • Administer and implement the maintenance program to ensure uninterrupted operation of the entire center.
  • Coordinate the repair of equipment or recommend the replacement of or additions to equipment or center as necessary.
  • Work closely with other department and administration. Negotiate priorities, plan work schedules, make job assignments, order needed materials, supplies and parts.
  • Schedule and supervise maintenance repair work, alterations, remodeling, minor construction and the checkout, installation and servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment and building systems.
  • Maintain an inventory of parts and supplies to maximize the operational readiness of hospital building systems and equipment with due respect to the limitations of cost, regulations, and relative priorities.
  • Responsible for developing the annual operating budget, which includes staff, equipment, materials, and supply needs. Monitor budget after adoption.
  • Have knowledge of fire alarm and signal system. Administer and implement the preventive maintenance program of the fire alarm system accord to National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) criteria. Responsible for the development of policies and procedures relative to fire and safety.
  • Maintain staff files and records, audits time cards and prepares statistical and operating reports.
  • Have knowledge and observance of safety precautions.

Qualifications of Environmental Services Manager :
  • High School Diploma or general equivalency is required
  • 1 year of experience is preferred
  • Prior experience in a supervisor capacity scheduling, training, and leading teams in supporting housekeeping/laundry responsibilities is preferred
  • Experience in institutional maintenance is preferred
  • Candidates must maintain a working email address and phone number for employer communication.

  • Moderate Computer Skills
  • Ability to communicate in English in writing and verbally in conversation with different levels of staff, patient families and any outside customer
  • The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • You may frequently be required to stand and walk for long periods of time. The employee must routinely lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to utilize a computer, phone, etc. for extended periods of time
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to blood or other bodily fluids or airborne pathogens and tox caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
