Ohio EPA wants you to be our newest Environmental Specialist in the Division of Environmental and Financial Assistance (DEFA) at our Central Office in Columbus.

As environmental specialist, you'll act as lead in advising technical staff on programmatic elements for the agency's Water Resource Restoration Sponsor Program (WRRSP) and Water Supply Revolving Loan Account (WSRLA) projects. You'll coordinate pre-nomination/nomination activities for the WRRSP, including project scoring, ranking, and inclusion on the Water Pollution Control Loan Fund's annual Program Management Plan (PMP).

You'll serve as primary technical contact between the Office of Financial Assistance (OFA) and other divisions and assist in training new and recent OFA hires regarding WRRSP programmatic elements and review processes.

As subject specialist, you'll provide information on the WRRSP information to potential implementers and sponsors, state and federal agencies, and other interested parties, including presenting at workshops, conferences, and similar events.

You'll work with other divisions and agencies to coordinate project reviews, develop new WRRSP funding opportunities and identify new areas of assistance where the WRRSP can support water quality restoration and protection efforts.

  • Assist in identifying areas of assistance and funding opportunities for the WRRSP.

Qualifications
  • 7 yrs. relevant programmatic exp.
  • OR combination of education in environmentally focused discipline or other job-related discipline & specific programmatic experience equaling 7 yrs.
  • OR completion of undergraduate core coursework in environmentally-related discipline; AND 3 yrs. relevant programmatic exp.
  • OR 2 yrs. relevant programmatic experience as Environmental Supervisor, 85865.
  • OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
  • Note: For all positions involved in field work, applicants must be able to provide own transportation. New employees in OEPA's solid waste program, excluding those in the solid waste planning unit, must obtain a sanitarian-in-training certificate during their probationary period.
