Position Description

Job Summary: The Grader Operator, utilizing both newer joist stick CAT graders and/or older CAT Graders, will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient execution of paving projects according to project specifications.

Essential Functions: 1. Safety always wins. Create a zero-incident environment for people by operating the motor grader in a safe and appropriate manner according to project specifications. Take personal responsibility for safety by wearing all required personal protective equipment and properly following company and OSHA safety procedures. Demonstrate a zero tolerance for safety violations by reporting problems to Supervisor, Safety Director, or HR Manager by making safety an everyday mindset.2. Communicate. Collaborate with the paving crew and project manager to ensure seamless coordination of grading activities.3. Ownership and caring. Monitor the quality of grading work to ensure that surfaces meet project specifications and standards. Make necessary adjustments to achieve the desired grade and slope. 4. Dedication. Conduct routine inspections to confirm cleanliness and maintenance on the grader to ensure it operates efficiently. Report any equipment issues for timely repairs. 5. Respect and engage. Maintain a professional and courteous attitude toward customers, co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.

Position Requirements

Requirements, Education and Experience: 1. 3 years of Grading experience, required. 2. Knowledge of Grading cross slope as well as surveying with an ability to adapt to new technologies 3. Available for variable shifts including day, night, some weekends, and overtime 4. Proficient verbal and written English 5. Valid driver's license required 6. OSHA Card preferred 7. Legal right to work in the U.S.

Travel: Travel by personal vehicle to work locations throughout the work region.

Work Environment/Physical Demands: This position works outdoors in hot, humid and/or inclement weather. Heavy work that includes moving objects up to 100 lb. or more. This position works on or near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion. Must have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
