Job Summary

Performs skilled work in the operation of complex construction/maintenance equipment (see eligible equipment listed below). An employee in this class is responsible for performing tasks of more than average difficulty involving the safe operation and routine maintenance of assigned equipment. Tasks at times are performed under hazardous conditions and employees are expected to be particularly alert and careful. Under general supervision, employees are required to exercise initiative and independent judgment in completing assigned tasks and work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion by observation and through results obtained.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to read, write and follow instructions, plus four (4) or more years experience in the operation of tractor trailer. Preferred experience with "wet line" and dump operations. Also need experience on operation of front end loader, back hoe, front end loader with back hoe, and Vac Truck. Prefer experience on computer assisted crane. Must pass performance test with on-site Terex Crane within probationary period and/or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.

Florida Commercial Driver's License Class A, B, or C may be required prior to employment depending on equipment assigned to position. MUST PRESENT FLORIDA CDL CLASS A OR EQUIVALENT FROM ANOTHER STATE AT TIME OF INTERVIEW.

Some positions may be required to pass an annual respirator physical; no facial hair allowed between the face and sealing surface of the respirator.

Certain positions in Streets & Drainage Bureau may require Aquatic, Right of Way, and restricted Pesticide License within twelve (12) months of employment. Some positions in the Water Reclamation Division require a GOAA Secure Area Access I. D. badge within ninety (90) days of hire.
