Duties
As a EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST-TITLE 32, GS-1670-9, you will provide instruction and assistance regarding equipment maintenance procedures, techniques, and methods as a part of the Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Team. Provide advice, assistance, and guidance regarding maintenance management systems, material readiness programs, cost reduction programs, and maintenance shop practices in maintenance facilities. Prepare and conduct training designed to upgrade, improve, and/or update the knowledge and working skills of unit maintenance personnel. Develop, write, update, and teach units of instruction for new equipment training. Perform hands on maintenance procedures to personnel on proper trade techniques, practices, and explains safety precautions involved in maintenance. Recommend policy, procedure, or operation changes to facilitate and ensure efficiency in maintenance operations and manpower utilization, as needed. Review the effectiveness and efficiency of equipment and maintenance management. Review and evaluate information in technical reports, logistical studies, supply data systems, and observations/inspections of maintenance organizations. Research material pertaining to maintenance and maintenance management. Perform other duties as assigned. You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.
You must be assigned to a compatible military position.
Wear of the military uniform.
Position may require a pre-employment physical.
May be subject to furlough actions.
May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Must obtain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.
Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus.
Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility.
This position is located on a tobacco free facility.
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:
Experience and knowledge of one or more classes of equipment including knowledge of standard shop terminology and a basic knowledge of mechanical principles relating to equipment. Experience reading and interpreting technical publications related to functions such as repairing, overhauling, maintaining, constructing, or inspecting equipment. Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least 24 months experience which provided knowledge and skill in applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment design. Experience in the use of tools and test equipment. Experience developing, installing, inspecting or revising equipment maintenance programs and techniques.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
