Education and Experience:
- Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must hold an Associates Degree (or)
- Have completed a minimum of 48 semester hours of study at a regionally accredited institution of higher education (or)
- Have successfully completed the Alabama State Board of Education approved WORKKEYS assessment.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
- Bilingual and/or experience in second language acquisition preferred but not required
- Bilingual translation and interpretation skills
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assist ESL teachers in the preparing instructional materials for classroom use.
- Assist ESL teachers and ESL students in the instructional program as scheduled.
- Assist ESL teachers in establishing objectives and developing and implementing a program of instruction that meets the individual needs and ability of ESL students.
- Assist ESL teachers in developing instructional activities that are consistent with local and state courses of study and curriculum guides.
- Assist ESL students in transitioning and manipulating the school environment.
- Assist ESL students with translation and interpretation of course materials.
- Assist ESL families with translation and interpretation during I-ELP meetings, registration, parent/teacher conferences, and academic after-school events.
- Provide translation and interpretation services for CCS faculties, students, and families.
- Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students.
- Exhibits positive human relations skills.
- Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, and local board policy.
- Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and ethics, working cooperatively with the Board, the Superintendent, administrators, certificated and non-certificated personnel, parents, and students.
- Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.
- Attends all meetings as required by the Superintendent.
- Attends Professional training as required by the supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Background Check Required:
- (Ala. Code §§ 16-22A-5) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to finger, to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Adequate physical and mental health documented with a signed statement from a physician.

- Position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Cullman City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by internal applicants by means of transfer
- Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial year of employment if hired after September 30.
