Parent Liaison

Principal Non-exempt

Qualifications:
  1. A minimum of a high school diploma
  2. Proficient oral and written communication skills
  3. Possess and maintain a valid driver's
  4. Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups, including students, parents, community members and resources.
  5. Ability to identify and solve problems as a productive team
  6. Ability to use technology to communicate, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial


Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and
  2. Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace
  3. Make personal contacts through a variety of modalities (electronic, face-to-face, home visits, etc.) to encourage parental engagement
  4. Serve as a liaison between teachers, parents, students, support staff and the community regarding educational programs, services and various student issues; assist in coordinating and arranging various programs and services to meet the needs of students.
  5. Establish and maintain partnerships with community agencies to facilitate and enhance support services for District students, parents and teachers.
  6. Serve as an informational resource to parents, staff and others concerning school programs, services, attendance issues and other matters; respond to inquiries and provide information concerning related activities, standards, guidelines, practices, goals, objectives, processes, policies and
  7. Meet, confer with, and interview parents in the identification of family needs and issues; provide information and materials to parents to assist in the location and utilization of school and community services and resources; refer parents to school


services or community resources as appropriate.
  1. Promote positive parenting throughout the school campuses by providing training opportunities for parents/guardians on strategies to promote student
  2. Participate and lead campus-based outreach activities, such as curriculum nights, and special events.
  3. Maintain accurate records of activities, parent participation, and results of efforts
  4. Assist in coordinating and arranging various programs and services to meet the needs of students, parents and teachers.
  5. Develop and execute programs and initiatives to enhance services and strengthen relationships between school and home examples; Parent Advisory Teams, parent workshops, family literacy training
  6. Properly uses and cares for equipment and material resources of the school system and effectively supervises and monitors others in the care, maintenance, and use of tools, equipment, and inventory.
  7. Serves on school system committees, task forces, and representatives groups as
  8. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.
  9. Performs any other job-related responsibilities and duties as assigned by the principal


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to finger, to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, crouch and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary: Salary according to proper placement on current salary schedule.
