Department Description This position includes but is not limited to performing semi-skilled and skilled cleaning, housekeeping and/or general maintenance duties in all areas on the UCDH campus; waste handling for regular, regulated medical waste (RMW) and linen waste and perform other duties as assigned. Ensures all necessary procedures for equipment are used in accordance with departmental safety policies. This position is physically demanding and will require a great deal of lifting, stretching, walking, and bending.

Minimum Qualifications

• Customer service experience.
• Verbal and written communication skills to read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Skills to work collaboratively and independently within a diverse team and fast paced environment.
• Skills to use computers, access email and other necessary UC programs.
• Knowledge of and skills to operate power machines such as floorcare equipment, and trash compactor, and UCDH vehicles.
• Skills to use pagers, mobile devices, voceras and other communication devices.

Department Description

The Environmental Services Department is responsible for all aspects of Housekeeping functions/services in all UCDMC owned and leased facilities. The department is also responsible for the recycling and shredding programs.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs, push/pull 200 lbs., and be able to stand, walk, squat, and kneel for an extended period.
• This position may include tasks in patient care areas where there are patients under isolation precautions.
• This position may require staff to clean and handle blood/bodily fluids, hazardous materials, and chemical waste.

Special Requirements

• Incumbent must be willing and able to work variable shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and float to other units/areas/buildings/runs.
• Position is subject to a Functional Capacity Assessment for new hires, a Criminal Background Investigation, and a Physical Evaluation.
• This position is a critical position and subject to a background check and drug screen. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history, identity checks and drug screen.
• As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California Policy on Vaccination Programs, as may be amended or revised from time to time. Federal, state, or local public health directives may impose additional requirements.
