Job Description:

Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads - both students and employers - for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 28,000 students in 2019-20. Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions. The college had 3,203 graduates in 2019-2020, 40 percent of whom pursued degrees that would let them transfer to 4-year institutions. Of South Hampton Roads residents enrolled in higher education 36% enrolled at TCC. TCC's institutional accreditation is affirmed through 2027 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

This position will manage the office of the VP for Institutional Advancement, Tidewater Community
Educational Foundation, its Board, and Board committees. To provide support and detail-oriented leadership in managing the fast-paced activities of the office and coordinating administrative responsibilities across the IA department, Tidewater Community College Educational Foundation, and the college. In order to perform the duties required of this position, this employee requires a LAN account and access to general network services, Administrative Information System and the Student Information System, SISCOPYID: UTCINQY, and the eVA procurement system.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, confidential executive environment.
  • Ability to manage a complex administrative office through hands-on, detail-oriented leadership.
  • Ability to make decisions independently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with individuals at all levels within the college.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, students, and external constituents, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of information from various sources and produce specific executive reports and summaries.
  • Ability to review and analyze multiple state and Foundation budgets.
  • Ability to review various MOUs for compliance associated with TCC Educational Foundation funding requests and communicate discrepancies and/or noncompliance to requestors as needed.
  • Ability to analyze business processes and recommend modifications to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ability to distribute and monitor assignments to ensure timely completion and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret and apply TCC, VCCS, state, and TCC Educational Foundation policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of PC environment with advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, and Internet use.
  • Prior experience in a higher education setting, specifically with Boards and committees.
