The Aviation Department is seeking a highly qualified individual for the Facilities Maintenance Superintendent position. This role will manage the day-to-day operations of the Baggage Handling Systems, Energy Management, and Mechanical sections. The position requires exceptional expertise for comprehensive oversight of airport facilities, including formulating and enforcing local rules, ensuring compliance and safety, and optimizing infrastructure functionality and reliability. Responsibilities include managing the operation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and evaporative cooling), as well as overseeing building automation systems (fire alarm system, environmental sensors, lighting controls, and energy management) to ensure their optimal performance. The role also involves managing all aspects of baggage handling systems to ensure smooth, efficient processes and enhance the passenger experience.

Qualifications include e xpertise in facility maintenance and management, strong organizational and leadership skills, and w orking with mechanical systems, building automation, and baggage handling systems. In-depth understanding of facilities management principles, including maintenance, safety, and environmental sustainability.

List of duties and responsibilities include:
  • Provide analysis support to users and long-range planning.
  • Prepare preliminary and long-range plans, estimates, and budgets.
  • Advise department in technical hardware/software matters as defined above.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of professional, technical, and non-technical staff.
  • Review proposed equipment and software proposals to determine the relative cost/benefit.
  • Manage the day-to-day administrative activities of the Baggage Handling Systems, Energy Management and Mechanical sections.
  • Work closely with vendors and contractors to ensure equipment and services procured and installed meet requirements and specifications.
  • Work with department representatives to develop cost-effective solutions that meet operational requirements.
  • Analyze, document, and assist in publishing and maintaining administrative and system standards in conformance with information technology industry standards.
  • Review projects for conformance to established administrative, technical system, and operations standards.
  • Oversee and/or evaluate computer systems and/or telecommunications network performance and effectiveness.
  • Oversee and/or evaluate and recommend system data and network security and access control to ensure effective control over network utilization and to minimize unauthorized activities.

SALARY

Pay Range: $88.691.20 to $137,592.00 annually.

Hiring Range: $88,691.20 to $118,872.00 annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five years of experience in airport operations, general aviation, or maintenance.
  • Three years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree in airport or business management, or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
  • Experience developing the annual budget assigned function.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Federal, State, local, and Airport rules, and regulations.
  • Experience with assuring storage functions are performed according to established procedures.
  • Experience inspecting and prioritizing airport facilities and its critical systems and direct corrective action.
  • Experience managing the custody and use of materials, tools, and equipment used for maintenance programs.
  • Experience with facilities management, fire/life safety systems, building automation, energy management, commercial HVAC, gates and barriers, passenger boarding bridges, baggage handling systems, and controls systems and servers.
  • Industry credentials such as Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E), Certified Member (C.M.), Airport Certified Employee (ACE), Certified Facilities Manager (CFM), Facility Management Professional (FMP), Certified Public Works Professional, Management (CPWP-M), etc., are desired.
