The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking to fill the position of Facilities Services Assistant in the Office of Facilities Management. This position will support the Office of Facilities Management by performing general maintenance, while preserving the interior and exterior appearances of the Ohio Judicial Center facility. This entails keeping equipment and facility in reliable operating safe, comfortable, productive, and attractive place to work and visit. The position will be assisting Housekeeping & Grounds, Meetings & Events, and the Maintenance department with various departmental duties as assigned.

What You'll Do:

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedure. Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash receptacles; empty and clean ash trays, cigarette urns as well as refill restroom dispensers. Perform the light maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, windows, and blinds, etc.

Provides light assistance to Maintenance Mechanics on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and appliance repairs or installations. Seasonal snow removal is a must.

Responds to service requests from in-house customers, assists to identify problems, root causes, and solutions. Communicates with other people or departments as needed to make sure the facility is properly maintained and presentable.

Assists in the setup of meetings. Move furniture, equipment, and supplies, on an occasional basis. Safely operate all vehicles and other job-related equipment.

Identifies facility issues and brings problems to the attention of the Facilities Manager or

coordinator.

Attend safety meetings and other related meetings.

Sign for supply deliveries when available; inspect delivered items for damage, refuse those items with damage and sign for items which appear to be undamaged; deliver supply items which fit on mail carts to the ordering department or contact appropriate department for pick up at dock.

Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required.

Qualifications

What we're looking for:

A High school diploma or GED required. One to two years of experience and/or training in one or more aspects of commercial building maintenance and/or trades; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have excellent customer service skills.

Two years of experience in a service-oriented position preferred.

Two years of experience in the shipping and receiving field and/or in catering-related work. Prior experience working in a secured building or environment preferred.

The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written to establish positive public relations and to interact effectively with justices, judges, attorneys, supervisors, co-workers, and the public.

A valid Ohio driver's license is required.

Must be able to operate power equipment; sort items into categories according to established methods; complete routine forms, records, and inspections; stand walk or bend continuously.

Ability to comprehend Facilities Management and Court operational procedures.

Ability to apply principles to solve problems involving variables within familiar context; read & understand simple sentences with common vocabulary.

Requires ability to take initiative, prioritize projects, and independently plan and implement new procedures when appropriate.

Must be familiar with Microsoft word, excel and access programs. Must be familiar with office equipment (i.e., fax machines, copiers).

Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fraction, and percentage skills are required.
