Perform the role of a Facility Controls Engineer to support operations, maintenance, and project work in and around the NASA-Ames Unitary Plan Wind Tunnel Facility (UPWT). Job entails several responsibilities from troubleshooting and maintaining existing facility electro-mechanical and digital control systems, to upgrading, designing, and developing new control schemes. The current control systems deployed at the UPWT and support facilities are Emerson Ovation, knowledge of Emerson Ovation a plus. Learn and understand all aspects of NASA wind tunnel controls systems and documentation including P&ID's, loop diagrams, sequence diagrams, one-line diagrams, elementary diagrams, logic diagrams, control code, and system performance requirements. Knowledge of distributed control systems, Windows™ and Unix based system and programming, and current advancements in the controls industry is required. In addition, basic electro-mechanical engineering knowledge is required for troubleshooting systems and circuits. Manage controls and facility projects, develop, and maintain realistic project schedules, track budgets, develop start up plans, review, and update facility documentation. The ideal candidate will have a solid controls background with an engineering degree, hands-on expertise in field diagnostic techniques, and design experience. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal interaction skills, strong written and oral communications skills and be confident leading facility and craft teams. The ideal candidate will have an ability to develop fundamental understanding of a wide variety of facility electrical and mechanical controls requirements, applicable codes, and standards such as ISA and NEC, to solve facility problems. An emphasis on continual development of technical excellence is expected along with a willingness to learn facility engineering practices from experienced engineers on the team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. Ability to install, operate, troubleshoot, and repair controls and electrical systems or direct others to do the same. Ability to enter confined spaces and ability to move in and around machinery and wind tunnel systems.
Description of Work Environment
Work in an office setting and industrial field environment around compressors, wind tunnels, cooling water systems, machine shops, and lubrication systems. Field work can be a combination of outside and inside depending on the task. May work close proximity to high and low temperatures, rotating equipment, oil, greases, solvents, and high noise areas.
Equipment and Machines Involved in Work Tasks
Ability to operate personal computer systems, telephones, and other general office equipment. Ability to operate inspection, electrical and mechanical, and complex instrumentation equipment.
Criticality of Attendance
Standard work week of 40 hours, 8 hours per day, M - F, nominally 6:30 am - 3:00 pm. Overtime through early start or late departure from shift work may be required. Weekend work may be required from time to time as well as off shift work Swing and Grave.
Other Essential Functions
Must have the ability to obtain a security clearance if required by client. Must be able to accurately communicate ideas verbally and in writing. Must be able to obtain a NASA badge and maintain access to the workplace facility. Adhere to appropriate safety, quality, and environmental practice, as well as business ethics practices. Perform other duties as required. Maintain credibility and good customer rapport as required to perform successfully as a Facility Engineer.

The base salary range for this position is 95,000 - 125,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline from an accredited engineering program is required. Three years of experience working in an industrial plant controls and electrical environment is desirable. Position may be filled at a higher level, depending on the applicant's qualifications, years of experience, and education. Knowledge of any of the following is a plus: Emerson Ovation software, Allen Bradley AC and DC motor controllers, Resolver and Encoder specifications, GE Proficy Machine Edition, MatLab, and AutoCad.
