Provides asset disposal management for area operations and projects. Will travel 100% to operating locations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General

  • The role requires extensive travel to various operating districts and vendor sites to identify assets and materials that are due for disposal. This involves physically inspecting equipment and materials to determine their current state and future utility.
  • You will work closely with different teams, including area operations, equipment managers at the Houston Corporate office, the projects group, and other subsidiaries of Nabors. This collaboration is crucial for understanding both current and future company needs, ensuring that decisions regarding asset retirement or redistribution align with overall business strategies.
  • Conduct thorough inventories on district yards, as well as on stacked rigs and vendor sites. These audits help identify assets that are excess, obsolete, or not economical to repair. The goal is to determine whether these assets should be disposed or redistributed as critical spares.
  • Submit necessary transactions in the myAssets asset tracking system to correct any errors found during audits. This ensures that the asset tracking system remains accurate, with up-to-date information on all company assets.
  • Create and submit all required documentation to request approvals for asset retirement and disposal, ensuring compliance with corporate asset disposal policies.
  • Work with "as-is" buyers to dispose of assets approved for disposal through sales to maximize revenues for Nabors.
  • Work with approved scrap companies to dispose of all assets approved for disposal but not sold to "as- is" buyers.
  • Create and maintain all documentation required to manage asset disposal projects and collect all proceeds from disposal process.
  • Ensure that any waste, including trash, fluids, and hazardous materials generated during yard clean-ups and rig disposal projects, is handled and disposed of according to environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Coordinate processing of documentation required for retirement of assets disposed of through scrap or sale.
  • Submit or coordinate transfers within Nabors according to policy and procedure.
  • Train local personnel on asset identification, marking, and requesting new asset numbers as needed. Additionally, provide training on the use of the myAssets applications to ensure all employees can maintain the accuracy and integrity of the system.
  • Conduct tubular inventory audits on Nabors yard disposals and rig disposal projects to confirm quantities, size, weight, grade, etc.
  • Execute instructions from Houston Corporate as required.


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises and responsible for the direction, training, and review of asset related activities.
  • Manages physical inventories as required by corporate policy.
  • Supervises the disposal of assets and follow Corporate Fixed Asset Disposal Policy.
  • Supervise third party companies that may be working in our yards for asset disposal.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • 5 - 10 years hands on experience with drilling rig equipment.
  • Knowledgeable of oilfield drilling equipment.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree or high school diploma with minimum work experience 5 years.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Nabors application.

  • Ability to perform routine tasks associated with the position with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to complete tasks associated with this position within project time frame requirements.

  • Ability to stand, climb, crawl and reach for extended periods of time, work in hot and cold conditions, lift 50+ pounds
  • Use portable power and hand tools as necessary.
  • Operate heavy machinery to include forklifts, loaders, tandem, etc.
  • Adhere to company policies and work requirements.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by management.
  • Conduct an annual review of the position definition with the supervisor and update as required.


TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Be able to identify key components of drilling equipment and understand their purpose.
  • Be able to survey equipment to understand its condition.
  • Be able to negotiate sales prices and scrap purchase agreements.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This job is 100% travel.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties of the position and travel and work away extensively as required. The requirements above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, climb, crawl, lift 50 lbs, etc.
  • Possess initiative and tenacity to work independently within harsh weather working conditions.
  • Personally motivated with a "team player" attitude as you will be working with minimal to no supervision.
