Position Summary

Radiology Partners is seeking a Field Support Engineer with experience in supporting and managing multiple PACS systems, a strong understanding of interfacing, system integrations, and key medical imaging workflows. The successful candidate will need to be able to support multiple PACS systems, break down complex concepts for easy end-user comprehension and be proficient in documenting training materials, workflow diagrams and supporting documentation for the medical imaging workflows at Radiology Partners.

Position Duties and Responsibilities
  • Day to day Administration of PACS
  • Support multiple systems that include and but are not limited to:
    • Intelerad PACS, McKesson PACS, Laurel Bridge, DICOM Systems, Fuji Synapse PACS, Merge PACS, Merge ICA, Merge EA
  • Manage the distribution and storage of digital images from a variety of sources
    • Build and maintain routing solutions for diagnostic images
  • Provide application-level PACS support, including image workflow, auto routing, and other workflow initiatives
    • Resolve issues reported by users in a timely manner
  • Have an understanding of diagnostic images and workflows with Hospital Information Systems (HIS) and Radiological Information Systems (RIS)
  • Monitor PACS performance as it relates to overall network performance in order to minimize slowdowns and downtime
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot PACS and associated devices and software
  • Ability to assist Radiologist with PACS Application level support which includes hanging protocols, image loading, and Radiologist training.
  • Ownership for creation and documentation of processes within assigned area
  • Identify inefficiency and design appropriate recommendation on improving end-to-end workflows.
  • Establish and Maintain vendor relationships to resolve issues, deliver upgrades and develop solutions
  • Train end users including Radiologists
    • Provide standardized training modules
  • At least five years' experience with delivering high quality support services in a healthcare-oriented IS support environment, achieving high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of healthcare systems related applications to medical imaging workflows.
  • Working knowledge of DICOM
  • Working knowledge of DICOM routers
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge and understanding of the roles and workflows within an Imaging organization
  • Assist in the strategic planning of medical imaging initiatives, including new deployments, future needs and systems integration
  • Working knowledge of VPN (virtual private network) and NAT (network address translation) technologies
  • Training Management, including training plans and materials
  • Radiologist workflow
  • Rad tech workflow
  • Familiarity with radiology workstations (multiple monitors, Microsoft Windows, dictation mics, etc.)
  • Self-Confidence
  • Able to demonstrate the following

    • Able to interact effectively with physicians, clinical staff, management, and vendor

DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in an Information Systems or imaging-related discipline preferred
  • Linux experience
  • Demonstrable in-depth knowledge and understanding of (in order of importance):

1. Multiple PACS and PACS workflows

2. Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems

3. HL7 interfaces

4. Dictation software
  • Configuring viewer for optimal radiologist productivity (i.e. hanging protocols)
  • Knowledge of how to operate measurement and other PACS tools in an optimal way
  • Individualizing radiologist report templates and macros for optimal efficiency
  • Able and interested in working a flexible schedule. We can work in the office, at our customer sites and on occasion from home
  • Able to wear many hats - in addition to primary job responsibilities, we may be cleaning out the IT storage room one day, assisting in updating workstation hardware / software the next and working side by side with our physicians and support staff to learn new software and troubleshoot daily issues
