This is a restricted, full-time 12-month classified staff position. RCC has an excellent benefits package, and the salary range will be up to a maximum of $42,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Reporting to the Coordinator of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs, the Financial Aid Outreach Technician will help prospective students and current students, especially students from historically economically disadvantaged parts of our service region, with access to financial aid by assisting with Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form completion and the verification process. This will be accomplished through workshops, information nights, and one on one coaching. This position will also help with daily administration of the financial aid process, including processing verification documents and awarding financial aid to students, and helping answer questions from college staff, parents, and students.

The primary goals of the Financial Aid Outreach Technician position will be to provide financial aid education and outreach, provide financial aid counseling and information assistance, and help students who are on financial aid warning or suspension. The incumbent will develop educational materials and provide training on financial aid processes to high school students, college students, parents, faculty and staff. This position will also provide accurate and complete information about all financial aid programs and veterans affairs benefits, and ensure that students struggling with maintaining their financial aid are connected with resources that will help them succeed. This position will require some outreach and education to be done on evening and weekend hours.

  • Ability to monitor satisfactory academic performance and counsel and advise students
  • Ability to keep meticulous records
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Customer service and advising experience in a higher education setting
  • Knowledge of and skills with using PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS)
  • Knowledge of financial aid processes
