Position Summary:
The Miami Marlins seek a rising, progressive-thinking finance and accounting professional to join our expanding team based at LoanDepot park. The Financial Analyst ("FA") will participate in both core accounting processes, as well as financial planning and analysis initiatives. They will gain invaluable experience while having the opportunity to impact our baseball and business with their desire to simplify, automate and drive results. The FA will use their professional and intellectual expertise to independently produce, analyze and summarize historical and projected financial information for the executive management team. The FA will also support other core initiatives such as cost optimization journeys and deploying technological solutions to manual processes.
Essential Functions:
• Analyze financial data to prepare accurate and timely P&L statements, identifying key drivers and trends that impact financial performance.
• Review and analysis of historical financial statements, business unit P&Ls, and key metrics.
• Provide ongoing financial analysis to support business operations, including variance analysis and forecasting.
• Assist in the planning and execution of the annual budgeting process.
• Play a key role in the monthly accounting close; recommend improvements in processes.
• Prepare and review key account reconciliations.
• Provide FP&A support for business units.
• Analyze financial data to create models for decision support and provide business recommendations related to management policies or general business operations.
• Become an expert user of the Marlins' FP&A application and ERP.
• Enhance our finance and accounting processes, policies, procedures, reporting, and overall infrastructure, based on knowledge of best practices and embracing technology initiatives.
• Model the Miami Marlins Vision and Values in all interactions with teammates, partners, vendors, and fans.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• Previous experience in FP&A role preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Microsoft GP or Oracle NetSuite, and SAP Concur experience a plus.
• Strong technical accounting and analytical skills
• Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance to the financial operations of the team.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Report building / creation and presentation expertise.
• Ability to work independently and learn and apply quickly.
• Detail oriented, organized, and able to multi-task.
