GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

Channing Division of Network Medicine (CDNM) of the Department of Medicine was formed in July 2012 and is the largest research-only division within the Brigham and Women's Hospital with approximately 250 employees. The Division is comprised of three units: Systems Genomics and Genetics, Chronic Disease Epidemiology, and Systems Pathobiology.

Under the supervision of the Division's Financial Manager, the Financial Specialist will support the Post Award Grant Administrators with purchasing, procurement, journal entries, processing invoices using e-check/e-buy, reimbursements, creating purchase orders and contracts, maintaining the Channing Computer Core's user records, and other day-to-day operations to of the Division.

This is a 40 hour per week, benefits eligible position that offers a hybrid work model.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support purchasing and procurement activities. Assist in preparing purchase orders and ensuring compliance with procurement policies.

• Assist in processing and managing invoices related to research grants. Ensure accuracy and timely payment of all invoices.

• Prepare and post journal or cost transfer entries related to grant expenses and other financial transactions. Ensure accuracy and proper documentation for all entries.

• Provide support and work closely with post-award grant administrators to assist in managing the financial aspects of research grants.

• Work with Supply Chain to ensure that purchase orders, contracts and check requests are completed in a timely manner.

• Maintain Channing Computer Core user records and maintain the funding sources of external users.

• Assist with fund reconciliations as needed.

• Perform other related duties as assigned to support the financial operations of the research lab.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field

• Basic knowledge of finance/accounting principles, practice

• Proficiency in Excel.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to follow instructions and work independently and as part of a team.

• High level of integrity and confidentiality.

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

• Exceptional organizational skills and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks and deadline pressures while paying strict attention to details.

• Ability to resource efficiently and autonomously.

• Excellent interpersonal/communications (verbal and written) skills and a customer service focus.

• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Internet applications.

• Demonstrated ability to be organized and flexible in an environment which requires continuous monitoring of priorities.

• Willingness to take on new challenges and flexibility with change.
