This is a hybrid position with in-office flexibility 2-3 days a week.

Summary: The role of the Financial Data Analyst is to prepare FP&A reports within NFP's budgeting and forecasting systems. In addition to in-system reporting within the TM1 Planning Analytics and the Phinsys ASC 606 platform, the analyst will serve as a conduit to the Financial Reporting & Analytics delivery team for more comprehensive analytics. They perform data analysis and partner with the FP&A and Corporate Accounting team to prioritize requirements and build out custom reporting and analytics with the IT Reporting & Analytics Delivery team. Comprehensive drill-down into the policy/product and business line details behind the general ledger revenue and expense entries is the baseline. Proactive analysis and fostering improvements to the monthly financial close process and creating analytics around ambiguous data for operational support teams and accounting operational centers to follow-up upon. The Financial Data Analyst will work as both a technical business resource and data analyst to help prioritize requirements based on value and effort, perform data analysis and drive actionable insights for the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prototype and mock-up analytics dashboards with effective data visualizations that provide valuable insights and help democratize data across the company
  • Create and maintain a variety of company KPIs to help manage best practices around reporting metrics
  • Effectively communicate data analysis, insights, and stories to various stakeholders throughout the company
  • Determine operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats
  • Meet with business users to clearly understand requirements and business objectives
  • Document business requirements, construct workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications
  • Recommend controls by identifying problems, writing improved procedures
  • Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
  • Interpret, evaluate and interrelate research data and develop integrated business analyses and projections for incorporation into strategic decision-making
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly reviews and analyses of current processes using operational metrics and reports
  • Understand and communicate the operational impact of any changes
  • Create informative, actionable and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Conduct insightful, ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing operational issues
  • Document data mappings and record data requirements needed for the reporting & analytics delivery teams to execute upon
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:
  • Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
  • Background in Accounting
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, Cognos, or other reporting tools preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Experience with TM1 and/or other budgeting or forecasting tool a plus
  • Extremely organized with strong time-management skills
  • SQL experience desirable
  • Sarbanes Oxley and familiarity with financial audit controls also preferred
