Position Title: Fire Protection Engineer (Hybrid) - Overland Park, KS or Dallas, TX

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Fire Protection Engineer to join our team in a hybrid role based in either Overland Park, KS or Dallas, TX. The engineer will be responsible for assessing facilities and equipment to establish appropriate fire protection measures. The primary projects supported include Power Plants, Oil and Gas Processing Facilities, Water Treatment Plants, and Data Centers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret state and local codes and standards (e.g., IBC, IFC, NFPA) to determine fire protection requirements.
  • Proactively communicate fire protection needs to internal and external stakeholders on assigned projects.
  • Develop and review documents including code and hazard analysis, detailed fire protection specifications, piping and instrument diagrams, and hydraulic calculations.
  • Evaluate sprinkler and alarm system drawings/calculations for accuracy and compliance with applicable codes.
  • Liaise with city officials and apply for variances as necessary.
  • Apply knowledge independently while fostering a culture of quality and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, policies, and safety standards.


Qualifications:

  • PE License required.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in fire protection engineering.
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and actively pursuing or holding a Professional Engineer registration in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience or familiarity with Power Plants, Oil and Gas Facilities, Water Treatment Facilities, or Data Centers.
  • Strong communication skills with a focus on results, planning, conflict management, and customer focus.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles, guides, and standards.
  • Intermediate knowledge of quality programs, construction practices, and procurement & contract administration.


Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program in the USA.


Preferred Skills:

  • Expertise in fire protection engineering, piping, and quality programs.
  • Familiarity with water treatment plants, data centers, and government contracts.
