Position summary of the Food Service Director:
The primary purpose of the Food Service Director is to develop and maintain dietary service objectives, standards, policy, and procedure manuals, and coordinate dietary services with other resident services. You are also responsible for the department's planning, budgeting, and development; purchasing food and supplies, means, and providing a sanitary environment. The Food Service Director is responsible for carrying out and delegating assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current federal and state regulations and established facility policies and procedures.

Position summary of the Food Service Director:
The primary purpose of the Food Service Director is to develop and maintain dietary service objectives, standards, policy, and procedure manuals, and coordinate dietary services with other resident services. You are also responsible for the department's planning, budgeting, and development; purchasing food and supplies, means, and providing a sanitary environment. The Food Service Director is responsible for carrying out and delegating assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current federal and state regulations and established facility policies and procedures.
Responsibilities of the Food Service Director:
- Plans, develops, organizes implements, evaluates, and directs the dietary department and its programs and activities.
- Coordinates dietary services and activities with other related departments (i.e. Nursing, Housekeeping, Social Services, etc.)
- Develops and maintains written dietary policies and procedures.
- Assists the dietary staff in the development and use of departmental policies and procedures, equipment, supplies, etc.
- Assists in developing methods for determining the quality and quantity of food served.
- Assures that menus are maintained and filed under established policies and procedures.
- Monitors food service production line, etc. to ensure that the meals are prepared on time.
- Visits residents periodically to evaluate the excellence of meals served; likes and dislikes, etc.
- Forecasts needs of the department.
Qualifications of the Food Service Director:
- Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Service Manager, OR associate degree in Food Management or Hospitality
- At least 3 year experience in LTC food management, preferred
