Job Summary

Position Responsibilities
  • To clean assigned areas of the college so that a safe, healthy, and attractive learning environment is available.
  • To lock and unlock rooms and doors as assigned so that security is maintained.
  • To report any, and all safety hazards so that a safe environment will be maintained.
  • Other duties may be assigned so that the building is maintained. This includes snow removal that may involve shoveling, salting, and snow blowing entries to college.
    • Take down and put up set-ups.
    • Strip and wax floors during summer break or as needed.

Minimum Qualifications ( must have at time of application )

Knowledge of :
  • Different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents, and equipment.
  • Chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely.
  • Methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs.

Ability to :
  • Follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction.
  • Keep simple records.
  • Physical health and endurance sufficient to perform the following work functions:
  • Must possess a current/valid driver's license with a good or acceptable driving record. This is required in order to drive campus vehicles.


Preferred Qualifications (desired but not expected to have to enter job)
  • Operate and make minor repairs to simple maintenance equipment.
  • Previous maintenance/cleaning experience.
  • Previous experience with snow removal including spreading chloride and operating powered snow removal equipment is preferred.
  • The applicant (the employee) should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
  • Human relations skills sufficient to work cooperatively and efficiently with coworkers, college staff, students, and the general public.
