Job Summary

Chief responsibility is to provide support to the Asset Evaluation Team, primarily with GIS functions. This position will focus on Acquisitions & Divestitures for the company with mainly project based evaluations turned around in short order. Incumbents in this role are responsible for creating and maintaining GIS data in an enterprise environment and performing spatial analysis. Other responsibilities include providing support by managing and maintaining various geoscience projects and databases.

Job requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data for mapping, reporting, analysis, and presentation
  • Configure custom geoprocessing tools within the ArcGIS Enterprise Portal and ArcGIS Online environments, as well as create & maintain mobile and web map applications
  • Utilize and maintain GIS models/scripts for process automation
  • Perform edits to geospatial data in a versioned editing environment while maintaining proper data quality and integrity
  • Digitize Oil & Gas leases, competitor acreage positions, pipelines, and other infrastructures
  • Review surveyed data for accuracy and compliance
  • Provide mapping and general GIS support for geoscientists and reservoir engineers
  • Interact with team members to define data needs, project requirements, and required outputs
  • Data table creation and database management in various geoscience software platforms (Petra preferred). Typical tasks include loading of log data, geological maps, downloading and dissemination of well data from IHS and state databases, loading seismic data (SEGY), metadata entry into internal info bases, project building and maintenance, and creation of maps/PPT displays

Skills and Experience
  • Intermediate to Advanced level proficiency with ESRI's Desktop GIS applications (ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro)
  • Experience with geoprocessing & mapping automation using Model Builder and Python knowledge
  • Proficiency in performing table joins & relates with SQL database and other RDBMS
  • Experience configuring Web Map apps (ESRI's ArcGIS Online/Enterprise Portal, other custom apps)
  • Experience working with raster data such as aerial imagery & LiDAR a plus
  • Proficiency in Petra is strongly preferred; experience in other geoscience software packages is a plus (i.e. Kingdom, Transform ESS, Geographix, Trinity, Spotfire)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities concurrently
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with team members
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills with strong desire to deliver quality work products
  • General understanding of and experience in an oil & gas E&P company is strongly preferred


Education Requirements

Minimum 2 Year / Associate Degree Combination of Industry experience and education may substitute as equivalent for degree.

Preferred 4 Year / Bachelors Degree Technical or 4-year college degree highly preferred.

Years of Experience

3+ Years Minimum 3 years experience preferred with GIS; Relevant experience associated with upstream Oil & Gas Operations

Working Conditions and Physical Demand

Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting, and standing. In the event that incumbent visits operations worksite, personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame-resistant clothing is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.

Travel Requirements

Less than 5% Travel may be required for mandatory meetings or training.
