The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI is home to the mantra - You dream it. We build it. Join our team as a Global Product Quality Director.

Job Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring premium product hardware and software quality through Product Development by defining the strategy, people, processes, and tools driving A-grade product launch quality, quality performance management, problem prevention, detection and elimination activities related to vehicle and part quality, across all functions (Product Quality, Supplier Quality & Development, Manufacturing Quality, Logistics & Packaging Quality, Digital Quality, Quality Management System, etc.) This individual will act as the key quality interface with the global engineering leadership team (SVP Global Motorcycle Development, VP Engineering, GM Systems Engineering, and Engineering Chiefs) as it relates to quality and will be the subject matter expert and change agent to ensure delivery of premium quality to our customers. This individual will sit on a variety of forums and be an influential leader of continuous improvement of quality, reliability, and customer experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create and lead a team of highly capable professional quality engineers that will be embedded in the product development teams, along with the appropriate management structure.
  • Develop a strategy and build/lead a team to work in conjunction with engineering VP, GMs and Chiefs to create a thorough APQP plan for major, mid, and minor development programs to ensure quality is designed-in to our products.
  • Integrate DFX (assembly, manufacture, service, repair, etc.) into the LCP process with leading and lagging indicators of success.
  • Work across functions to bring reliability and warranty data early into the design process and collaborate with product and engineering leadership to set goals for improvement that are built-in to the development program.
  • Work with Supply Quality and Supply Management, GAM, MFG, and Service teams to create a full cradle-to-grave quality view for major systems and sub-components.
  • Oversee, teach, coach, mentor and participate in DFMEA, PFMEA, CS/CC/Control Plans, Agile, ASPICE, etc. for all new product development programs.
  • Define and enforce quality guidelines and process by leading project teams through the quality activities and gates providing continuous and proactive independent evaluation of the quality readiness.
  • Enable long-term stability. Coordinate with Product Development strategy and plans.
  • Demonstrate the ability to engage, motivate and energize employees at all levels through trust, credibility and collaboration that leads to cultural transformation including the ability to seek and develop alliances and partnerships across the organization to achieve business goals and improve overall performance.
  • Prevent product quality defects to achieve short and long-term quality goals.
  • Drive quality throughout the organization by integrating quality standards and common measures that strengthen/improve processes for business performance.
Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
Experience Requirements

Required

  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years related experience. Minimum of 5 years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team/organization in successfully achieving business results.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, influence others, and postulate a vision of the future.
  • Proven experience in technical capability in the areas of Quality and Product Development including knowledge management and best practice implementation.
  • Knowledge of key systems and processes within Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, and Product Development.
Preferred

  • Master's degree.
  • Motorcycle enthusiast, riding experience and knowledge of Harley-Davidson motorcycles and accessories.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
