This position is located in the city of Bell .
Under the close supervision of the Program Administrator/Staff Services Manager I, the Graduate Student Assistant (GSA) initially assists the Senior Rehabilitation Engineer Consultant in performing engineering duties related to improving the functioning and mobility of persons with disabilities. Works approximately 22 hours per week as a GSA in a trainee capacity to assist in the delivery of a wide range of the mobility driving/passenger services. The GSA receives training and gains practical experience from observing and assisting the Senior Rehabilitation Engineer Consultant and the Mobility Evaluation Program.
The GSA participates in the driving and passenger evaluations of consumers and in the formulation of equipment recommendations; participates in the development of assistive technology and vehicle modification standards; assists the Senior Rehabilitation Engineer Consultant in the design of assistive devices to meet consumer needs in such areas as driving controls; wheelchairs; wheelchair accessible vehicles; electronic communication technology, and architectural barrier removal; participate in the evaluation of available technology; technology groups, disseminate information, tracks and completes Excel documents, assist Senior Rehabii8ation Engineer in day-to day assignments and task and provides consultation to other programs within the DOR, other governmental agencies, and the private sector.

Working Conditions
Seasonal Clerks, Student Assistants and Graduate Student Assistants are not allowed to work more than 1500 hours in a calendar year. The anticipated time worked will be 22 hours per week. If selected, the employee will receive an hourly compensation based on the number of hours worked.
