The Grant and Contract Specialist supports Towson University's pre-award research administration function. Reporting to the Associate Director of Pre-Award Services, the position is responsible for a range of pre-award activities supporting proposal development, including funding searches, budget development, proposal submission, and other related duties.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Collaborates with faculty and staff investigators on the submission of grant proposals. Includes reviewing RFPs, developing grant budgets and budget narratives, preparing supplemental forms, drafting boiler plate language for grant proposals, and routing through the Kuali-Coeus system.
  • Cultivates the development of grant proposals for external funding through customized funding searches and management of faculty research profiles using the GrantForward system. Maintains regular communications with faculty, research teams, departments, and colleges regarding relevant opportunities.
  • Supports newsletter and website content development to communicate the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research news, pre-award activities, and relevant university, state, federal, and sponsor regulations and guidelines.
  • Supports pre-award activities related to internal funding programs and coordination of departmental workshops, trainings, outreach, etc.
  • Conducts research on assigned research administration topics.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.

Qualifications and Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to handle multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment, be detail-oriented, and be proficient with Microsoft Office.


Preferred:

  • Previous grants experience.
  • Familiarity with funding databases and/or grants programs.
  • Experience in higher education.


Salary and Benefits

Starting salary is $60,000. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
