Position Title: School Bus Driver

Location: Central Office/Bus Shop

Pay Grade: Salary Schedule

Pay Type: Salary - Non Exempt

Retirement: RSA

Reports To: Transportation Supervisor

Contract Work Year: 9 Months/ 182 Days

Minimum Qualifications: The Driver must possess a CDL License and be able to sit for extended periods while maintaining concentration, particularly in poor driving conditions. It is necessary to have the ability to drive in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat.

Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Safely operate the school bus on a regular daily schedule
  • Operate the school bus in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life
  • Operate the school bus in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
  • Clean the bus as schedule and/or required
  • Ensure the bus is safely and securely stored.
  • Advise the Transportation Supervisor of any requirement for maintenance or repairs
  • Maintain schedule and maintain order on the school bus
  • Ensure students are aware of rules and responsibilities as passengers
  • Maintain order and discipline on the school bus
  • Make note of any behavioral or disciplinary problems
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the transportation supervisor
