Hardware Development Engineer, Amazon Special Projects

Key job responsibilities
• Develop automated laboratory workflows.
• Perform data QC, document results, and communicate to stakeholders.
• Maintain updated understanding and knowledge of methods.
• Identify and escalate equipment malfunctions; troubleshoot common errors.
• Participate in the updating of protocols and database to accurately reflect the current practices.
• Maintain equipment and instruments in good operating condition
• Adapt to unexpected schedule changes and respond to emergency situations, as needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Life Sciences, Engineering or related field.
- 0-1 + years of experience plus practical lab experience.
- Experience with hardware/software integration and real time systems.
- Familiarity with software development and life science concepts, methods, and concepts.
- Knowledge of safety procedures relating to operation of equipment and handling of chemicals.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience developing automation workflows.
- Experience programing with an object-oriented programing language such as java or C#.
- Experience developing and supporting integrated work cells.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and methodologies that are commonly used in modern data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully within a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $86,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
