Crown Legacy FC Overview

Crown Legacy Football Club is a professional soccer team devoted to player development and producing the next generation of soccer within the Charlotte FC organization. After announcing its entry into the league in 2022, Crown Legacy FC played its inaugural MLS NEXT Pro season in 2023. CLFC is committed to entrenching itself within Matthews and the surrounding areas creating community grassroots events.

Position Summary

Working alongside the President, Assistant General Manager, and Technical Director, the Head Coach will be charged with following the club-wide strategy and development of Crown Legacy FC players, coaches, and staff. The Head Coach will ensure that all training sessions are aligned with the Club's methodology, learning platforms and cadence including all technical and tactical aspects. The Head Coach will strive to achieve success on the pitch, identify & develop the individual strengths of our players, improve the overall quality of each of the players, and in turn, improve the team.

Primary Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential duties at a high professional level.
  • Lead and coach the Crown Legacy Team during all matches, including the regular season, tournaments, and exhibitions.
  • Serve as leader and mentor for our coaching staff, players and Crown Legacy staff.
  • Work in partnership with the President, Technical Director, Assistant GM, and Scouting team to evaluate potential players.
  • Analyze and evaluate opponents to determine game strategy ahead of matches.
  • Consult and advise with respect to the Crown Legacy Team's roster and player movements including possible ascension to the First Team.
  • Support Senior staff on Plyer Progress Committee to review, selection, training, evaluation and retention of High Potential Players within Charlotte FC's Academy.
  • Learn, acknowledge, and enforce MLS league guidelines and ensure that Crown Legacy staff and players are also in compliance.
  • Act as an ambassador on behalf of Charlotte FC as we grow our brand and presence throughout the Carolinas.
  • Participate in club-led efforts including interview & media requests (television, radio, digital), marketing campaigns, photo sessions, sponsorship & ticket sales activations, and public appearances.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience leading a staff and Coaching at a professional level.
  • Must have a USSF A License, UEFA A License or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Must have a valid passport.
  • Must be flexible to work long hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
  • Must be flexible and willing to travel to away trips and events.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have a valid driver's license to assist with team travel as required.
  • Must pass pre-employment screens.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position operates in a professional office environment and outside in a stadium facility. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. Travel will be required to matches nationally, and on occasion internationally.
  • Must be able to work in all Crown Legacy matches, home and away.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to remain sitting for up to 8 hours at a desk and computer.
  • Ability to remain standing/walking for up to 8 hours.
  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, and endure weather conditions, including rain, wind, high and low temperatures, etc.
  • Must be able to work in non-traditional settings, and work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
