Description

To drive technology innovation in healthcare, Verily is integrating the most advanced cloud engineering capabilities with our research, clinical, and product development expertise. As Head of Cloud Operations, you'll spearhead the strategy, design, and implementation of our cloud operations, ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency. You'll tackle exciting challenges like optimizing cloud spend, automating infrastructure management, and fostering a culture of cloud excellence across engineering teams.

This is a leadership role with Tech-wide impact and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of cloud engineers and operations specialists.
• Develop and implement cloud operational strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Champion best practices for cloud security, compliance, and cost optimization.
• Drive automation initiatives to streamline cloud deployments and infrastructure management.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of cloud services.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in IT operations, with at least 5+ years in a cloud environment (GACP, AWS or Azure).
• Proven track record of leading and managing cloud operations teams.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform is a plus.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architectures.
• Strong understanding of FinOps principles and cloud cost optimization strategies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Experience building and fostering a DevOps culture.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $217,000 - $289,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
