SUMMARY

As a result of doing this job description you will help to create the positive and friendly atmosphere at NFI. Assists Pharmacist with filling prescriptions accurately along with controlling inventory and expenses

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists Pharmacist in filling prescriptions
  • Receives and stores incoming supplies
  • Counts stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records
  • Bills insurances, understands Medicare
  • Translates prescription into the computer system for pharmacist approval
  • Inputs prescription orders accurately and in a timely manner according to established departmental guidelines
  • Assists in completing and updating medication profiles for patients
  • Maintains complete and accurate dispensing or other required records of activity
  • Contacts physician offices for refills of continued prescriptions where permitted by state Pharmacy regulations.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with customers including physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and vendors
  • Complies with all HIPPA laws and regulations
  • Keeps up to date with new medications and prescription changes
  • Is working towards or holds a pharmacy technician certification


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
