Health Sensing Electrical Engineer - HW Architecture
Cupertino, California
Summary
The Health Sensing team conceives, designs, develops, and launches innovative and exciting health sensing technologies for Apple's future products, while expanding an impactful new domain for the company.
Our team doesn't just build products, we deliver inspiring technology and information to users on the most critical area of their lives - their health. Dynamic, inquisitive people and inspiring, innovative technologies are the norm here, not to mention letters of how these features helped improve or save people's lives.
Imagine what you could do here!
You will work in highly multi-functional environment and mainly supply on hardware architecture design for development for electrical sensing health features, such as ECG in the Apple Watch. The role's responsibilities will encompass health sensing circuit and system design, simulation and modeling, data processing/analysis along with crafting well-documented specifications and rationale.
Key Qualifications
Hands-on experience and consistent track record in electrical sensing system hardware engineering.
Strong background on multiple of these areas: sensor interface circuit/system architecture, analog/mixed signal design, simulation/modeling, electrical sensing modalities (voltage, current, impedance) or data processing and analysis.
Proficiency in system engineering, hardware architecture, ASIC definition and/or design.
Proficiency in Python, Matlab, SPICE or similar simulation tools.
Experience in machine learning or firmware development is a plus.
Experience in prototype for physiological sensor signal acquisition and design & complete user study is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as solid teamwork.
Description
We are responsible for designing and delivering high quality electrical health sensing features for Apple's product. We are highly collaborative and partner with a variety of teams across Apple. You will mainly work on develop sensing hardware and responsible for following:
- Conduct architecture design, simulation, modeling, board level circuit and system design for health sensing products in the entire lifecycle of a new product, from initial design and functional specification of new hardware features and overall architecture design all the way to support and validation of these features
- Review schematics, layout and other design collateral for fabrication. Develop analysis and modeling tools for hardware performance, perform complex system level tests, enhance and resolve issues in existing products, and perform unit testing and end-to-end testing
- Collect and process environmental and physiological data from users to draw conclusions, predict performance of new designs and components based on simulation and modeling tools
- Translate feature requirements into electrical hardware specifications and validate performance against specifications
- Drive the development of component and modules to meet pre-defined specifications. Analyze and leverage manufacturing data to improve quality and minimize defects. Drive failure analysis to understand root-cause and implement corrective actions
- Author evaluation plans, technical documentation such as Engineering Requirements Specification (ERS), and aid in bring-up to deliver scalable solution to support Apple mass production in a high quality way
- Collaborate closely with multi-functional partners (FW, Algorithm), including problem solving and requirement drafting across various functions and disciplines
Education & Experience
BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
