Job Description

• Be proficient in Outpatient and Inpatient computerized system
• Knowledgeable of Federal, State and local laws concerning the filling and dispensing of medications and orders.
• Interpret, fill and dispense prescriptions and prescriber orders.
• Have the skills and knowledge to provide Patient counseling and education to outpatient and discharge patients
• Able to Compound and manufacture prescriptions and orders.
• Has the knowledge to review drug-drug, drug-food and drug-lab interactions.
• To be able to fill unit dose cassettes and managing the medication cart fill process
• Review and Profile drug orders.
• Fill, replenish and deliver and exchange cassettes, C-Locker Carts, Emergency Boxes and Code Cart Trays, etc.
• Able to communicate well with other health professionals.
• Suggest and Intervene on Problematic Drug Orders.
• Skills and knowledge to prepare IVs.
• Has the Knowledge to provide up-to-date drug information.
• Able to package and label pharmaceuticals into unit of use or unit dose blisters.
• Assist in maintaining accurate and complete records and statistics of departmental activities.
• Assist in monthly inspection of patient care units and pharmacy.
• Assist in replenishing drug bins and shelves and keeping the pharmacy in a neat and orderly fashion.
• Perform all pharmacy related functions such as managing and trouble-shooting the Automatic Dispensing Cabinet (PYXIS)

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a valid NY State license to practice pharmacy.
