You will also have access to our comprehensive benefits and competitive pay in addition to growth opportunities and excellent retirement options.Job Summary:The Heavy Equipment Mechanic analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains equipment classified as Heavy Equipment per military standard. This mechanic operates and inspects military equipment to diagnose defects, dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools, examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges, replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions, and tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency. The mechanic may be required to weld broken parts and structural members, may direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment, and may repair, adjust and maintain all types of Heavy Equipment per the contract requirements.ResponsibilitiesJob Responsibilities:
- Must be familiar with the following types of equipment, sub-systems, support equipment and related systems the following military equipment to include PLS, HEMTT FOV, FMTV FOV, LMTV FOV, HMMWV FOV as well as trailers. This includes equipment that is above the 7 1/2-ton weight limit including trailers that accompany the prime mover if required.
- Mechanics will be capable of repairing equipment to Army standard using the appropriate Technical Manuals.
- Diagnoses system malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct deficiencies. Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using Technical Manuals (TM's) and/or Electronic Technical Manuals (ETM's).
- Have a working knowledge of how to operate lifting devices, hand and pneumatic tools.
- Repairs and replaces components, engines, transmission, and sub - assemblies.
- Assists team members in solving maintenance problems by analysis and troubleshooting.
- Maintains appropriate government required paperwork and the files (Job Packets) necessary for the maintenance and repair of the equipment.
- Directs workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident with reading and writing fluency in the English language.
- Must possess working knowledge of the appropriate tools necessary to perform maintenance tasks as well as knowledge of standardized maintenance regulations - specifically DA PAM 750-8, Functional User's Manual for The Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS).
- Must be able to regularly lift, push, pull heavy parts weighing up to 50lbs; stoop, climb, stand, sit, or crouch for prolonged times.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background investigation and drug testing.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state issued driver's license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Common Access Card within this first 90 days of employment.
- Must possess own equipment/tools.
