Duties

  • Explain work requirements, methods, and procedure.
  • Oversee subordinate staff to ensure that work meets deadlines.
  • Examine heavy combat vehicles for their final inspection of completion.
  • Plan weekly and monthly work schedules and sequences of operations for subordinates.
  • Serve as the technical and administrative supervisor over a maintenance production organizational unit.
  • Develop performance standards, counsels' employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals.

  • Obtain and maintain a Personnel Background Investigation (NACI).
  • Position requires completion of pre-employment/deployment physicals and maintain annual physical requirements and immunizations thereafter to ensure continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform duties of position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Travel Card (GTC).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
  • Required to successfully complete the Civilian Education Course and the Supervisory Development Course within 12 months of being assigned to position. Failure to do so may result in an adverse action.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Passport.
  • May be required to travel (TDY) 90% of the time CONUS/OCONUS for business purposes.
  • Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
  • This is a Term position scheduled to last 1 year and 1 day. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Supervisor (Direct Hiring Authority) ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Supervisor duties of explaining the proper tools, equipment, or parts that is required for the repairs. I can demonstrate how to interpret guides such as blueprints, sketches, and technical manuals to perform functions of parts or systems; provide quality control review on performed repairs on heavy mobile equipment vehicles; and illustrate troubleshooting analysis to diagnose malfunctions. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
