PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITY:

The Help Desk Technician's primary responsibility is to provide technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software. If they cannot provide the necessary support, they will escalate problems to the Senior Help Desk Technician in a timely manner.

EXAMPLE OF ACTUAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist employees by providing technical support with hardware equipment (PC, copiers, printers, fax machines, etc.)
  • Escalate to Senior Help Desk Technician, as required
  • Troubleshoot problems with computers and networks.
  • Install software and hardware, as needed.
  • Assist in preparation of reports, as needed.
  • Assist with system maintenance, workstation support, internet connectivity, and back-up procedures.
  • Purchase approved equipment and software.
  • Maintain current inventory of hardware and software.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma or it's equivalent.
  • A.A. in computer science or similar field, preferred.
  • Two years of experience in providing technical support with hardware equipment.
  • Familiarity with Windows-based operating systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize task assigned and meet deadlines as needed.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge of Active Directory systems.
  • Basic networking troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Understanding of virtualization technology.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
  • Help Desk tickets are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Issues are escalated as needed.
  • Issues are followed up on until they are resolved.
  • Maintain a reasonable stock of equipment to serve to staff.
  • Works with team to resolve issues.
