Job Summary:
The Hematology Oncology Office Manager is responsible for management and administration of all non-clinical office functions for Adult Hematology Oncology in the Upstate Cancer Center. This includes oversight and supervision of non-clinical staff and workflow of Adult Hematology Oncology to include registration, chart preparation, scheduling, medical records, billing, referrals/authorizations, telephones, department purchasing, and mail distribution. Supervision will include evaluations, performance programs, orientation, coordination of vacation and sick leave coverage, and cross training of staff. The candidate will ensure efficient and timely flow of patients through the Adult Hematology Oncology Office in the Cancer Center. The Office Manager will collaborate with physicians, nursing and administration on the development and adherence to policies and procedures, as well as, assist with long range planning and development. This position will assist the Associate Administrator with the development and management of the departmental budget and will review and report on departmental financials. The Office Manager must successfully collaborate with all employees to include physicians, fellows, APP's, RN's, MOA's and non-clinical staff. This position must work effectively with all departments to include Pharmacy, Lab, Finance, Physical Plant, Environmental Services, Cancer Center Administration, and the Physician Practice Manager. They will identify and act on opportunities for quality improvement initiatives to better facilitate patient flow and patient satisfaction, in addition to, acting on patient complaints, working with non-compliant patients, and resolving complex administrative and operational issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration or related field with 3 years of experience in a healthcare setting OR Associates Degree in Healthcare Administration or related field and 5 years experience in a healthcare setting required. Two years of supervisory experience required. In addition, this position requires excellent written and oral communication skills and must possess excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience working with electronic medical records.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to lead a diverse team to a common purpose and proactively seek new ideas and solutions to organizational challenges. Previous oncology experience.
