HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER - CREDIT RECOVERY

POSITION: High School Teacher - Credit Recovery

SUPERVISOR: Building Principal

PRIMARY FUNCTION :

Credit Recovery Teacher for Alton High School and The Alton Success Academy.

Alton High School is currently seeking a certified teacher to facilitate credit recovery courses for students during both the day program and night program offered through ASA.

Day Program: 3 Class Hours / Start Time: 11:00 AM
  • (3rd Hour, 5th Hour, and 6th Hour: Monday - Friday)

Alton Success Academy: 2 Class Hours / Start Time: 3:30 PM -6:30 PM
  • (7th Hour and 8th Hour: Monday - Thursday)

The Alton Success Academy (ASA) at AHS is an alternative education program designed to provide educational opportunities and credit recovery to AHS students who have been identified as needing additional supports outside of the day program. ASA focuses on building each student's academic, behavioral and social skills to facilitate greater success in the classroom while in the program.

Credit Recovery / ASA classes may incorporate Imagine Learning Edgenuity online coursework.

Courses offered Include: Math Seminars, Science Seminars, ELA Seminars, U.S. History A and B, Civics/U.S. Government, Health, Academic Physical Education, Consumer Economics.

*Course offerings vary by semester and scheduling.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must possess the following qualifications:
  • Applicant must hold a valid Illinois certification for the position for Madison County with applicable endorsement(s)
  • Successful experience in the position being applied for is desirable
  • Technology based applications for instruction
  • District curriculum requirements relevant to the specific position
  • Developmentally appropriate instructional practices and learning environments

ESSENTIALS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Secondary Certification preferred
  • Actively participate in the provided training and professional development for Imagine Edgenuity curriculum and courses.
  • Independent preparation and planning for instruction with Edgenuity or similar approved instructional software/online programs.
  • Develop and demonstrate fluency with Edgenuity features and functionality.
  • Assess student academic progress daily during one-on-one conferences.
  • One-on-one and small group conferencing, direct instruction and reteaching.
  • Instruction and modeling of technology skills, troubleshooting, and Edgenuity features and functionality.
  • Actively supervise and engage students.
  • Maintain timely, accurate student records with particular focus on attendance.
  • Produce and submit student data reports biweekly and Progress Report/Quarterly
  • Maintain regular communication with students through email and approved ACUSD/AHS platforms.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians/AHS staff.
  • Participate in ASA program-wide interventions and monitor student outcomes.
  • Employ a variety of instructional strategies and techniques which take into account individual student differences (learning styles, motivation, interests, etc.).
  • Participate in MTSS, SEL and program interventions / incentives.
  • Consistently maintain ASA classroom management plans and AHS schoolwide rules and expectations.
  • Performs other reasonable duties as assigned during the normal work day/year or in cases of emergency.
