Minimum Qualifications

Position Summary

This position will work both indoors and outdoors doing primarily fieldwork, which includes, but is not limited to, helping to plant, maintain, harvest and process field studies. Work in the field and greenhouse will be done in hot conditions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is desired, and Excel spreadsheet data entry is also expected. The employee receives specific work instructions at the beginning of each new task and the work is closely supervised until the employee is capable of consistently performing the task. A minimum of 3 years of high school and some related work experience is preferred.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position

A minimum requirement of high school or equivalent combination of education and work experience in horticulture or a related area. Valid GA. driver's license; other training will be provided as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Work with or without supervision.

Physical Demands

Able to bend and lift at least 50 pounds, use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Able to work in a laboratory for multiple hours a day. Duties also require intermittent out-of-town travel to research plots during the workday.
