General Information:

JMU Facilities Management is accepting applications for a full-time Housekeeping Worker in the University Recreation Center (UREC). Evening shift hours are Monday - Friday, 12:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., with occasional Saturdays and some rotating on-call responsibilities.

UREC operates an award-winning, state-of-the-art recreation facility including an adventure center, wellness center, aquatics center, mediation/mindfulness space, and a wet/dry classroom.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform regular and special cleaning of assigned areas using manual tools and power equipment such as buffers, vacuums, and auto scrubbers.
• Understand and practice all university safety procedures, particularly as they relate to equipment operation and chemical use.
• Participate in the university's trash/recycling program.
• It is likely that staff will be moved on a regular basis, temporarily, to meet short-term business needs; such as summer cleans, special projects, shortages in other areas, etc.

Qualifications:

Required:
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform physically demanding job duties with or without an accommodation.
• Ability to work with industrial-strength chemicals and equipment including buffers, scrubbers, and waxers.
• Ability to clean materials containing bloodborne pathogens.
• Effective time-management skills.
• Attention to detail and basic customer service aptitude.
• Positive interpersonal skills and willingness to work cooperatively in a team environment are essential.

Additional Considerations:
• Experience performing a variety of cleaning tasks.
