Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Employment & Compensation in the Office of Human Resources, this position will assist in overseeing the university's employment immigration program. The Employment Immigration Specialist is responsible for filing immigration petitions and permanent residency processing. This role will also assist with onboarding and transitional services for international TA/RA/GA employees and J-1 check-in process.

To be considered for this role, applicants must have at least four (4) years of related experience as outlined in the minimum qualifications section, including at least two (2) years immigration experience.

Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree
Four (4) years of general HR, direct training/talent development, benefits, employment immigration, administrative experience or other relevant experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Three (3) years employment Immigration experience in higher education or as a paralegal.
  • Experience with immigration software.
  • One (1) or more years working in the Human Resources field.
  • PHR , SPHR , SHRM certification
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administers all aspects of immigration-related employment-based applications, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assists with the development, integration, and implementation of policy regarding hiring practices for foreign nationals.
  • Assists with the development and delivers training, workshops and materials aimed at communicating the university immigration process.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation relating to visas, petitions and any other information relating to employment-based immigration.
  • Collaborates with International Student Center to implement transition programs (student to staff).
  • Assists with RA/TA/GA onboarding program.
  • Develop and monitor caseload system and maintain contact list and communication to foreign nationals.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations, remaining abreast of changing regulations and best practices.
  • Evaluate needs, changes in technology and regulations, engage in business process Assist in updating employment immigration website as needed.
  • Be available to campus stakeholders as an employment immigration resource.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation relating to employment and immigration petitions for employees.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

Remote Work Notice
A hybrid remote work schedule may be available. Employee must be located within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area and have the ability to be on campus for work activities as scheduled and/or with 24-hour notice. Completion and approval of a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required upon employment, and use of personal computer, internet, and other standard equipment may be required. Remote work arrangements are subject to regular review and re-approval and may be canceled at any time.
