What We Do:

Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services operates regional psychiatric hospitals in six locations across the state that operate 365/24/7. Our specialized facilities provide short-term, intensive treatment to patients in both inpatient and community-supported environments. We also deliver comprehensive care to patients committed through the criminal justice system.

What you will do:
  • Performs employment services for the hospital: recruitment & hiring (e.g., requesting lay off lists; & vacancy postings online system; submitting HR position authorizations, interviewing & selection processes: assists hiring managers in reviewing of employment applications, position descriptions, interview questions, etc.; schedules interviews with applicants & hiring managers & follows up with next steps (e.g., second interviews, pre-hire paperwork); processes complete background checks for candidates (e.g., verification of references & licensures, fingerprinting, drug screens, etc.);
  • Creates & processes personnel actions & related paperwork in accordance with Civil Service laws, Administrative Rules & Bargaining Agreements. determines start date & communicates to appropriate personnel (e.g., education & training, department head); ensures all personnel files are compliant with licensure & Joint Commission standards, etc.) track and monitor all required trainings and waive testing.
  • Non-Employee (contract employees, volunteers, students, etc.); & employee on boarding and off boarding. Case Merits (tracking and maintaining files for all requisitions and completed interviews.
  • Tracks and maintains acquired list of possible job candidates. Processes reference checks on active & inactive employees.
  • Prepares, processes & enters biweekly payroll for submission to the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) & Auditor of State using the electronic timekeeping systems (e.g., KRONOS) & the Ohio Administrative Knowledge System (OAKS); in accordance with payroll policies, procedures, & bargaining unit agreements; Receives, & reconciles documentation (e.g. Request for Leave, Overtime Approvals, Schedule Adjustments, etc.); research & corrects missing an/or inaccurate information; audits all entries & makes necessary adjustments (e.g., step corrections, pay supplements, service credits, etc.)
  • Collaborates with central office payroll & office of collective bargaining to make necessary adjustments and assists LRO2 with payroll discrepancies. Responds to employee concerning paychecks, provides kronos training to employees and supervisors as necessary.
  • Assist with employee benefits (e.g. medical, vision, dental, life insurance, etc.), disability benefits, Occupational Injury Leave (OIL), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), & Worker's Compensation (WC) programs.
  • Performs related administrative duties (e.g., prepares reports & correspondence, monitors &/or maintains human resources records, assists in development of human resources policies & processes, serve s on various committees (e.g., CARE, etc.), assists with new employee orientation, responds to inquiries from employees & the general public); preforms other duties as requested.
