Responsibilities:
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of the employee handbook to avoid confusion when asked questions concerning contents.
  • Provide leadership to staff, build a strong and collaborative team, facilitate open lines of communication, ensure ongoing development, recognition and appreciation.
  • Process semi-monthly payroll; review timesheets for accuracy.
  • Maintain up-to-date personnel information and files to ensure legal compliance.
  • Assist Directors to develop job descriptions and annually review and adjust if necessary.
  • Oversee recruitment and hiring processes; including advertising open positions, reviewing applications, coordinating and conducting interviews, conducting reference and background checks.
  • Create and execute onboarding procedures for new staff to ensure their understanding of programs, policies and procedures, including their own terms and conditions of employment.
  • Support organization staff by counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing stay and exit interviews; and recommending changes.
  • Draft and update documents such as job descriptions, offer letters, employee handbook, performance appraisal, forms, policies and other HR related documents.
  • Responsible for benefits administration to all staff, participate in the renewal process and open enrollment.
  • Conducts investigations into employee relations matters, and makes recommendations regarding disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings.
  • Advise Directors and Managers in counseling and disciplining employees; then by retraining, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Complete and submit paperwork to external agencies including worker's compensation claims, unemployment claims, verification of employment, etc.
  • Organize training for employees and identify job development opportunities ensuring they are fully equipped to be able to perform their duties.
  • Identify topics for mandatory staff meetings and in coordination with leadership team, create agendas for each meeting to cover pertinent topics.
