Responsibilities

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Supports human resource activities and programs that focus on staffing, compensation, benefits, training and safety. Answers employee questions about human resources policies and procedures. Coordinates projects for the Supportive Care in Cancer division. Supports division regarding faculty appointments/reappointments, employee compensation, training, benefit programs and student employment management. May mentor and/or train new or lower-level staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversees Human Resources administration. This includes payroll/time management, recruitment, administering the hiring process, managing requisitions, performance evaluations, disciplines, performance improvement plans, wage & salary program, position description reviews, reclassifications, step increases/EOP increases and associated tasks for each. Functions as project leader for MyURHR conversion and ongoing system expert.
  • Interprets University human resources policies to management and staff and advises on their application and implementation. Actively supports and participates in, upon request, grievance and arbitration preparation and procedures. Functions as leave administration expert for division.
  • Participate in unemployment hearings upon request.
  • Works in close collaboration with leadership on tracking and reporting key employee data tied to strategic plans. Creates and executes talent management initiatives for staff, including training opportunities, pulse surveys, staff meetings, and social celebrations. Maintains electronic employee files and division organizational chart.
  • Processes required personnel action forms for posting new positions, as well as closing employees out of division upon termination or resignation. Provides statistical data to division managers. Performs exit interviews and provide trends/concerns to division director and administrative leadership. Manages preparation of documents for appointments, promotions, salary and related changes with the UR/HR, as well as additional external divisions as required. Works closely with the HR Business Partner to investigate issues and come to resolutions and ensure University policy and procedures are applied equitably.
  • Serves as a resource, advisor and coach to division leaders on managing human resource issues including performance management, investigations, policy and procedures at both the division and organizational level.
  • Participates in special project work which may include setting up instructional sessions for division supervisors on HR related topics, serving on teams or committees, managing the mandatory drug screening process, new staff onboarding or other HR related services.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3 years of administrative and human resource experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $55,955 - $78,336 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
