About the Agency:
The Virginia Department of Military Affairs State Team provides professional and responsive state support functions to the Adjutant General of Virginia, the Virginia National Guard, the Virginia Air Guard, and the Virginia Defense Force in order to ensure their ability to support and defend the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
This position will be located in Blackstone, VA working on the Fort Barfoot base. Fort Barfoot is a medium-sized federal installation of 41,000 acres, 2,000,000 SF of buildings, and numerous ranges and is operated by the VaARNG for training Reserve Component, active Army, and other unit services. The Directorate of Public Works is responsible for the operation and maintenance of real property at the Maneuver Training Center, Fort Barfoot and State Military Reservation, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Purpose of Position:
To perform installation and maintenance of various complex HVAC-R Systems for MTC, Fort Barfoot, and other VAANG Facilities.
Job Duties:
• Performs inspections and surveys of various facility and electrical systems to determine status and requirements for programming of maintenance and repair work;
• Troubleshoots, repairs, maintains a wide range of complex HVAC-R systems, equipment and controllers;
• Installs new complex HVAC-R systems, equipment and Controlling Systems Independently;
• Ensures all work complies with IMC, BOCA, local codes, and OSHA Requirements;
• Directs lower level trades technicians with installation conduit, wire, motors, controls, alarms, and various HVAC-R type equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC-R systems;
Considerable knowledge of operations and installation of a variety of high pressure piping, steam, hot water, hot air heating systems;
Knowledge of basic safety and OSHA procedures and regulations;
Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions and confined spaces;
Ability to carry, lift and place into position equipment weighing 50 pounds while wearing protective/safety equipment in all weather conditions;
Extensive journey level experience in heating equipment, pipefitting and air conditioning / heat pump installation and repair;
Must have a valid Virginia Driver's License;
EPA Section 608 Technician Certification.
Additional Considerations
