The Office of the Vice President for Research is looking to fill the role of Communication & Marketing Manager for the Ignite Program.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for developing an overall marketing and communications strategy for Commercialization and the IGNITE Incubation Program, as well as coordinating a wide variety of programs and activities designed to promote and publicize Commercialization and the Incubation Program. This position writes and edits high-profile marketing and promotional materials, such as brochures, flyers, and online and multimedia content, responsibilities. The position requires training and experience in oral and written communication to serve in a professional communicator role.

The position reports directly to the Associate Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Innovation and indirectly to the IGNITE Program Director of the incubation program. This position is responsible for developing an overall marketing and communications strategy for Commercialization and the IGNITE Incubation Program, as well as coordinating a wide variety of programs and activities designed to promote and publicize Commercialization and the Incubation Program.

The position in coordination with the communication team in the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR), serves as a media contact and coordinates special events, including seminars and forums, press releases, and events in coordination with FSU OVPR and University Communications & Marketing.

This position writes and edits high-profile marketing and promotional materials, such as brochures, flyers, and online and multimedia content, responsibilities. The position requires training and experience in oral and written communication to serve in a professional communicator role.

Organizational Units supported include the IGNITE incubation program and Commercialization.

Commercialization is responsible for the identification, evaluation, development, protection, and utilization of intellectual property rights that result from FSU research activities and the activities of FSU researchers in affiliated hospitals and other off-site facilities. Clients are mainly FSU faculty, staff, and student researchers and innovators, but also include venture and technology companies desiring to license FSU inventions and technologies.

The IGNITE Incubation Program promotes, encourages, and enhances the research activities of FSU faculty, staff, and students, and brings together the strengths of FSU and the region, providing a critical interface to move university and community research into the marketplace, stimulate high-tech and biotech industries, and create jobs. Clients are FSU faculty, staff, and students; small business owners; and technology and economic development leaders in the community, especially representatives of government, business, and industry.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience related to media, communications, and/or marketing services; or a high school diploma/equivalency and eight years in the same areas.

(Note: or a combination of post-high school education and experience equal to eight years in the same.)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with technology transfer communications and marketing or another technology-based area.
