Job Description:
This is a part-time in-person position of 28 hours per week reporting to the Director of Adult Education. The role requires the inventory and maintenance of Chromebooks for Adult Education classrooms throughout the region. Technician needs to coordinate with IT staff in schools, two jail facilities, and business locations to assure system requirements are met. The Tech supports teachers and students in accessing programs and is the main point of contact. Tech responds to IT work tickets within 24 hours. Tech proctors remote testing sessions and in-person GED testing at two jails. Tech coordinates IT needs with Laurel Ridge IT Team and secures quotes from vendors for licensed educational software. Tech is present at semester registrations to assist with Chromebook functions. Assists with Facebook postings.

The position is housed at Laurel Ridge Middleton Campus and serves locations in Winchester and Frederick county.

Compensation

The hourly hiring range for this position is $25.59-$34.55. Actual hourly rate will be commensurate with competencies and/or experience. The position is part time and as such cannot exceed 29 hours per week and is not eligible for health or leave benefits. However, the position may offer educational benefits through our professional development and educational assistance policies.

Telework


According to DHRM policy 1.61 Teleworking , effective July 5, 2022, Virginia state employees will return to the workplace. Minimum Qualifications:

Considerable experience with:
  • Google Workspace for Education
  • WiFi Connectivity (access and troubleshooting)
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Assessing system requirements for instructional hardware and software
  • The ability to communicate effectively across multiple platforms such as email, telephone, and in-person. The ability to collaborate with students, college employees and other stakeholders to assess and address issues with information technology systems.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience proctoring online assessments preferred.
Ability to speak Spanish preferred.
