Under the general direction of the Information Technology (IT) Manager I (ITM I), the incumbent is to work independently, exercise good judgment, work cooperatively with others, and complete projects and tasks on time at a level commensurate with the position classification. Develop and maintain knowledge relevant to information security practices, technologies, and of applicable State and Federal and industry regulations and best practices with respect to information security. Maintain knowledge of the security threat landscape, security risk management methodologies, and defined security controls. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and policies of the California Department of Technology (CDT), Office of Information Security (OIS).
The Information Technology Specialist II (ITS II) position is not an entry level position and is expected and required to develop compliance projects often without much supervision but using the steps of completed staff work and principles of Information Security. Incumbents must maintain confidentiality regarding all information security items, forensic/discovery artifacts and activities, and any other situations related to information security issues where discretion is required.
