As Tesla continues to vertically integrate our operations, Tesla Cell Infrastructure group is looking for a highly motivated Controls Engineer to work on a critical challenge facing the world's energy transition to sustainable energy. Sustaining, Operating, and Optimizing a first-of-a-kind Battery Facility.
As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will work closely with the Design Team, Construction & Commissioning team supporting projects from concept through design, installation, integration, ramp up, and long-term operations, sustainability & operations.

As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will work closely with the Design Team, Construction & Commissioning team supporting projects from concept through design, installation, integration, ramp up, and long-term operations, sustainability & operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead SCADA HMI architecture design including the integration PLCs, life safety systems, and building management systems
- Lead the development of greenfield HMI and user interfaces include remote and local operation displays
- Work closely with the process design and facilities operation teams to develop intuitive KPI metrics and visualizations for production, maintenance, engineering and management
- Deploy, troubleshoot and commission local display hardware and remote access platforms
- Develop plant-wide supervisory systems to minimize unplanned downtime and centralize plant performance monitoring
- Available to travel for FAT and equipment installation and commissioning
Requirements
- 4+ years as a Control Systems Engineer working with BMS and Ignition SCADA systems
- Additional experience working with additional PLC platforms: Siemens PLC, Beckhoff, Allen-Bradley, Omron
- Experience working with modern communication protocols: Profinet, EtherCAT, Ethernet IP, Modbus TCP, OPC
- Evidence of exceptional ability, including a strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and demonstrated ability to leverage this understanding to solve challenging technical problems
- Demonstrated experience in the execution of controls projects from concept development through commissioning and ramp-up
- Demonstrated experience supporting a running production facility
