What You'll Do:

Ohio Department of Public Safety - Director's Office/Information Technology (App Architecture-Cyber Security)

Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223

Work hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm (On call 24 hrs/7 days)

(CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE) Will report into the office 2 days a week and telework 3 days a week (May be subject to change)

PRIMARY TECHNOLOGY: Security Software & Hardware

SECONDARY TECHNOLOGY: Computer/Digital Forensics

IT position with high level knowledge of Networking & IT Security fields. In-depth knowledge of Cyber Security, Security Incident Response, & Security Frameworks (e.g., NIST, SANS, etc.). Daily duties include but not limited to:

-Participate in architecting & administering security systems, including new installs, break-fix, maintenance, upgrades & troubleshooting;

-Participate during incident response situations; represent ODPS in a technical manner as needed; Review & educate other incident participants as needed;

-Receive alerts & monitor tools provided by OIT & OISP to analyze, interpret, investigate & resolve security issues & concerns located within the DPS environment. (e.g., Albert, Appscan, Qualys, etc.); Take the lead & collaborate with desktop/user support networking & server administrators to address production system concerns.

-Work closely with OIT on security projects & initiatives;

-Receive alerts & monitor tools provided by DPS ITO to analyze, interrupt, investigate & resolve security issues & concerns located within the DPS environment (e.g., Splunk, centralized logging, Flexera, DatAdvantage. Etc.);

-Assess network & information system activity; Perform event correlation, analysis of malicious activity indicators, based on review & access to multiple security tools & services; Automate notifications & alerts when possible;

-Respond to alerts (analyze, interpret, investigate, resolve) based on monitoring activity, for security (malware, malicious actor), & other purposes (malicious activity, misuse, etc.) assist on establishing procedures;

-Manage, update, modify alerts, adjust/fine tune event correlation rules, etc. (e.g., filter false positives, increase

accuracy/relevance/effectiveness), create new rules based on threat changes/evolving risk, etc.;

-Manage, Update, troubleshoot & administer anti-virus products, work with team and partners to ensure anti-virus upgrades occur smoothly, assist with customized dashboard & reporting, deals with exclusions & assist with virus discovery & recovery;

-Database Activity Monitoring (DAM) & Web Application Firewall

(WAF) monitoring, reporting & escalation of discovery;

-Web security gateway & web content filtering alert monitoring & alert dissemination & assist with remediation.

-Provide data as requested to key, identified DPS staff for forensic review &/or administrative investigations;

-Functions as project team member, is team-oriented, & capable of extending contribution beyond security functions to support other IT functions;

-Research & provide input regarding requests for software, new security tools & technologies. Be available to work with architects & development staff to design solution for DPS.

Qualifications

60 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: evaluating effectiveness and risk of it processes, recommending changes in IT procedures to meet customer needs, and evaluating and/or researching hardware and/or software solutions and providing feedback to project team or higher-level staff including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.

-Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; 42 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: evaluating effectiveness and risk of it processes, recommending changes in IT procedures to meet customer needs, and evaluating and/or researching hardware and/or software solutions and providing feedback to project team or higher-level staff including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; 36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: evaluating effectiveness and risk of it processes, recommending changes in IT procedures to meet customer needs, and evaluating and/or researching hardware and/or software solutions and providing feedback to project team or higher-level staff including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.

-Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
